What is it all about?
A soft core fantasy that celebrates
Sunny Leone’s lusciously bosomy beauty in a full blown Bollywoodised
avatar T-Series ‘Ek Paheli Leela’ in association with Paper Doll
productions is graced by the alluring Sunny Leone in those sumptuous
settings and costumes, chartbusting music and simple decent execution.
This vivid fairy tale with soft tones
of a period erotica is closer to the gallery than to the something
different, new, niche family but the strong promotional push by the
makers, Sunny Leone’s popularity and watchable content played to the
gallery should bring in the expected numbers.
The Story
Meera (Sunny Leone) is a top European
model on an assignment in London. Meera’s photographer Radhika (Shivani
Tanksale) and fashion designer played by VJ Andy bring Meera to an
assignment in the deserts and palaces of Rajasthan in India where Prince
Ranveer (Mohit Ahlawat) welcomes them.
Meera finds her Mr. Right in Prince
Ranveer but his cousin brother Prince Bikram (Jas Arora) is after
Ranveer’s empire and a mysterious statue of Leela.. who is Leela and
what is her story.. all this gets unveiled in due course.
Debutant Bobby Khan with his co
writer Jo Jo Khan keeps things simple and doesn,t goes for any
experiment to mark his stamp as a writer. Likely to be labeled as a
cliché lacking any innovations writer director but the target audience
may not mind as the proceedings are decently engaging to the core. Isn,t
a fast paced quickie but steady for its audience with a surprise twist.
What to look out for
A good one time watch debutant Bobby
Khan concentrates entirely on his prime asset Sunny Leone in this
tribute to B-town incarnation that winks at fascination of the 70’s,
80’s movies of this genre like ‘Karz’, ‘Mehbooba’ ‘Kudrat’ etc
inspiration.
Technically may not be that authentic
but certainly within the frames of the popular, single screen audience
aesthetics to be colorful, vivid and over the top where cinematographer
Bashalal Syed rightfully separates the two eras and the audience is able
to distinguish.
Bobby Khan narration is easy to the
eyes and flowing with the chartbusters, ‘Mere sayiya super star’, ‘Desi’
and ‘Tere Bin’ coming without disturbing the momentum and the
occasional spice of erotica in those love making scenes coming in to
satisfy all the pulse of its audience making it an entertaining affair.
Sunny Leone is in complete command
and in almost every frame radiating a preconscious joy in the powers of
her image as a sex goddess showing improvement in her acting skills.
Sunny male counter parts do their job
well where Rajneesh Duggal as Shravan is quite competent. Mohit Ahlawat
as Prince Ranveer is impressive. Jay Bhanushali as Karan is fine.
Rahul Dev as Bhairav makes his presence felt. Shivani Tanksale and VJ Andy are fair.
What not
It’s over the top, lacks innovation,
routine with buffoonery in its special effects. Jas Arora as Prince
Bikram hams. TV comedian Ahsaan Qureshi irritates. The desired emotional
connect to the love story is less. Offers nothing to those who strive
for innovation, revolution and are in constant look out for something
different. Sunny Leone acting skills will be questioned though she shows
signs of improvement.
Conclusion: ‘Ek
Paheli Leela’ is a soft core musical fantasy that celebrates Sunny
Leone’s lusciously bosomy beauty in a full blown Bollywoodised avatar.
It's seductive, haunting and humming with oomph and harmless over the
top make believe pomp. Go for it if you are for it.
