KERALA BOX OFFICE - SEPTEMBER.
The Kerala box-office had a good Onam, with Mammootty`s Rajadhi Raja and Prithviraj`s Sapthmasri Taskara emerging clear winners. Mohanlal`s Peruchazhi took a good opening but subsequently had a big fall. Kunchacko Boban- Biju Menon starrer Baiyya Baiyya turned out to be a damp squib while Dileep`s Villali Veeran is a washout.
In the number one slot for September is Mammootty`s Rajadhi Raja, a clear hit which has in three weeks grossed nearly Rs 8 Crore. It is doing better in Malabar, Mammootty`s traditional fortress. The film is a genuine hit for Mammootty after a long time.
In the second place is Prithviraj`s Sapthmasri Taskara which is a hit. The film got rave reviews and good word-of-mouth and is best in Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.
At number three is the surprise packet, Biju Menon`s Vellimoonga, a political, romantic comedy directed by Jibu Jacob. The audiences seems to be loving the movie, which released in the last week of September and is an instant hit, that is sure to go up the charts in the next KBO.
In the fourth place is Mohanlal`s Peruchazhi, which took a very good opening but could not sustain. And in the fifth place is Dulquer Salmaan`s Njan, which took a day one opening then collapsed.
